Another factor contributing to the dynamism of the local office market is the growing amount of office jobs, which in 2017 reached a record high of more than 1.5 million.

Office rentals in downtown New York, NY average $63 / sq ft / year for all classes, and availability rates are almost back to pre-recession levels at around 11 percent. In Brooklyn, rents are significantly lower and the average is still below $40 / sq ft / year (2017 data).
